Weathervanes of Maine

Handcrafted, Maine-made weathervanes, cupolas, birdhouses and more.

Give yourself plenty of time to browse through this online store. They offer hundreds of attractive and unusual weathervanes in a variety of sizes. There seems to be a nice design for any theme you can imagine. Their selection of cupolas is one of the most extensive I've seen. And, check out their Windcup Weathervanes. These are as attractive as traditional directional weathervanes, but also give an indication of wind speed with their rotating wind cups.

Like most cupola retailers today, Weathervanes of Maine recommends fairly small cupolas. The modern rule of thumb is one inch of cupola base for every foot of a building's ridge length. Cupolas on old-time barns were usually much bigger than that. If you're going for a traditional look, use at least 12% of the ridge length to determine the cupola's base size.
