PoconoPrimitives.com Pocono Primitives:
Reproduction primitive and country cupboards, pie safes, farm tables
hunt boards, benches, decorative accessories and signs.
Pocono Primitives, located in the Lake Wallenpaupack area of the
Pocono Mountains in Northeast Pennsylvania, specializes in hand
crafted authentic reproductions of country primitive furniture and
sells through distributors in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, New York,
Connecticut and in the near future Virginia and Massachusetts.
Pocono Primitives’ website describes the construction and finishing
processes of all the furniture it offers; it also explains that it
will customize an order to the distributor’s customer’s
specifications. The individual pieces are carefully portrayed and
dimensioned on this site. In most cases the furniture is made of
eastern white pine that is 7/8” to I” thick, much thicker than that
readily available at local lumber yards, but in keeping with the
19th century pieces upon which the furniture is based. The building
methods are also similar to those of the 19th century with mortise
and tenon construction, pegged at the corners, with dovetailed
drawers and cupboard backs of individual boards rather than plywood.
You can see detailed photos of Pocono Primitives’ furniture on the
site and get ideas for an individual piece or an entire room’s
furnishings.
